Many people aspire to a career working for an airline as part of the cabin crew. A position as a flight attendant offers many attractive features. From the outset you can expect to be trained to a high degree of competency. Once you are working as an air hostess or male flight attendant you can look forward to a career path that can involve promotion and further training as well as the obvious pay increases and other benefits.
If this type of career appeals to you then you'll need certain abilities and aptitudes in order to pass the selections tests. Cabin crew jobs involve several important skills and you'll need to be able to multi-task, keep calm under pressure, and stay alert during long hours of air travel. Obviously you'll need to be a 'people person' who enjoys meeting and looking after passengers of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures. You'll need to be able to deal with any medical or other in-flight emergencies as well as the more mundane tasks like serving drinks and meals.
There are several companies that offer training for those looking for a way into the airline interview process. This means that you can obtain some training and become at least familiar with the basics of several skills before even approaching an airline for an interview. However, choose wisely and spend your money carefully. Make sure that the training material is up to date and relevant to your chosen career path. Ask the training company if they would mind putting you in touch with trainee flight attendants who have completed the course. Follow up on any leads and find out if the course was of any real benefit in the long run.

Flight attendants need remain alert throughout their shifts and these can be lengthy especially on long haul routes, so they need to manage their domestic and social lives in such a way that they return to their place of employment fresh and read for another demanding shift. In the event of any medical emergency it will the the cabin crew who will have the responsibility to look after the passengers and if any other incidents occur during the flight e.g. severe turbulences, air rage, etc then the cabin crew will be in sole charge of dealing with these events.

A career as part of the cabin crew can be rewarding and fun, and you'll probably make lifelong friends who will share the ups and downs of the workload and the many experiences you will be exposed to throughout your working life.
